Basic Principles

Due to the hydrophilicity of the membrane surface, it preferentially adsorbs water molecules while repelling salt molecules. Therefore, a pure water layer consisting of two water molecules is formed in the outer layer of the membrane. When pressure is applied, the molecules in the pure water layer continuously flow through the reverse osmosis membrane through capillaries. Controlling the pore size of the epidermal layer is very important, as it affects the desalination effect and permeability. Generally, when it is twice the thickness of the pure water layer, it is called the critical pore size of the membrane, which can achieve ideal desalination and permeability effects.
